Pnickies Rules

NOTE:  This is not an official rules set created by Capcom.  I set them based on observations and patterns.

Section I.  Start of Game

    A.  Insert one coin to begin the game - or however many the game wants :)

    B.  Press the start button to select the game.

    C.  Select the top option for solo play for one player, the middle option for two player vs. play, and the bottom option(if available) for two player solo play.

Section II.  General Play Rules

    A.  The playing field will consist of 6 colums by 12 rows.

    B.  Colors will be falling down a gap at the top of the 3rd row from the left side of the playing field.

    C.  A piece is declared in place about .4 seconds after the piece has hit the bottom of the field or next to a piece directly below the piece in play.  If you move the piece, the .4 seconds reset until it hits the next piece or the bottom of the playing field.

    D.  Once a piece is in place, it cannot move horizontally until either it is deleted from the field by conversion, or the game ends.  A piece, however, can move vertically indirectly from another conversion not involving the piece, and can connect to other pieces of the same color.

    E.  A blob is defined as a series of pieces of the same color connected to each other horizontally or vertically.

    F.  A blob is declared converted if two or more star pieces of the same color as the blob are connected to the blob.  If such a blob is converted, the entire blob is deleted from the playing field and points are awarded.

Section III.  Solo Play Rules

    A.  The game is declared over if no pieces are able to go through the gap.  In other words, if the 3rd row from the left is 12 pieces tall, then the game is over.

    B.  The game is also declared over if the player reaches level 100.  At that point, the player has won the game.

    C.  Rankings will decided by the player's level and largest conversion achieved in the game.

        1.  The first part of the ranking depends on the level the player achieved at the end of the game.

Level Achieved Ranking
1 ?????
2 - 4 ?????
5 - 9 Wild Pnickies
10 - 14 Pnickies Gang
15 - 19 Pnickies Illusion
20 - 24 Pnickies Force
25 - 29 Captain Pnickies
30 - 34 Knight Pnickies
35 - 39 Prince Pnickies
40 - 44 Bronze Pnickies
45 - 49 Silver Pnickies
50 - 59 Gold Pnickies
60 - 69 Power Pnickies
70 - 79 Super Pnickies
80 - 89 Hyper Pnickies
90 - 99 Pnickies Master
100 God Of Pnickies

        2.  The second part of the ranking depends on the biggest conversion the player achieved at the end of the game.

            a.  If the player's biggest conversion is 30 pieces or greater, the word "great" is added onto the player's ranking.

            b.  If the player's biggest conversion is 40 - 49 pieces, the word "galaxy" is added onto the player's ranking.

            c.  If the player's biggest conversion is 50 - 78 pieces, the word "infinity" is added onto the player's ranking.

Section IV.  Vs. Play Rules

    A.  Every conversion is followed by a penalty of black pieces sent to the other player's field unless a person only converts a 2 piece blob in some instances.

    B.  The larger the conversion, the larger the penalty issued to the other opponent.

    C.  In addition, if there are 3 stars in a blob when converted, there will be a larger penalty than there would be with 2 stars.  If there are 4 stars in a blob converted, there will be a larger penalty than there would be with 3 stars.  Etc.

    D.  Black pieces will only be deleted from the field only when a blob is converted.  The black pieces that will be converted will be the ones surrounded by the entire blob, immediatly horizontally, vertically, or diagonially.

    E.  If a conversion immediatly happens after a conversion with no other pieces falling, the only pieces that will be erased are those immediatly horizontally, vertically, or diagonially around the stars, not the regular pieces.

    F.  The player is considered the loser when no pieces are able to go through the gap.  In other words, if the 3rd row from the left is 12 pieces tall, then that player is declared the loser.

    G.  Some arcade operators allow best 2, 3, or 4 out of 3, 5, 7 game series respectivly.  If a player is declared the loser, then his/her opponent earns 1 point.  Whoever reaches the quota set by the game is the winner of the match.

Section V.  Scoring Rules

    A.  These scoring rules apply to both solo and vs. play.  However, the game considers the solo score more important than the vs. score.

    B.  In all cases, any blob converted with a 3rd star adds 250 points to the score.

    C.  In all cases, any blob converted with a 4th star adds 550 points to the score.  This consists of 250 points for the third star, plus 300 for the 4th.

    D.  In all cases, any blob that is converted immediatly after a conversion without another piece falling adds 150 points to the score.

    E.  The scoring of each blob is considered as follows:
