Added recordings of New Rally X from Brady Prigge, Galaga from BeeJay and Elevator Action from Stephen Tjasink.
Added a recording of JoustGod playing Hyper Sports.
Added a recording of the great Zwaxy temporarily reclaiming the Millipede crown from JoustGod. Ha!
Added recording of War_Pig cheating at Pac Man with Pac Man Plus graphics (pacplus).
Added recordings of Mark Longridge improving his score on Dig Dug and KRA improving his score on Traverse USA. Also added a recording of KRA playing Star Force.
Removed a lot of (???) markings from scores. Thanks to BeeJay for running a lot of the replay files and checking whether they work properly.
Added replay files:
- Dith playing dowild, hyperspt and trackfld.
- JoustGod playing carnival, joustr, joustwr, milliped and missile.
- Salvador Tenorio playing maketrax.
- Mark Lyons playing invaders.
- Nick Kuzmicki playing gravitar.
Added a new section to the 'main' page for replays that demonstate bugs in MAME. Filled it with JoustGod's recordings of Joust messing up.
Caught a dose of the 'flu. I'll probably be lying in bed for a bit, so don't be too surprised if your recordings don't get uploaded for a while. Please keep sending them though!
Got a couple of Berserk recordings from Brady Prigge, one showing his high score and one showing bullets passing through the neck of the little bloke in the game without hurting him.
Didn't get any new recordings yet today. Received a teasing message about a Berserk recording saying: "the INP should show all the "Berzerk Strategies", like letting evil otto kill everyone and taking a shot through the neck", but no actual recordings.
Four new recordings:
- Amerikan playing 005, Blue Print and Moon Cresta.
- netBEUI making the fruit bounce right through Ms. Pacman.
I've been playing about on this new server. It's got shell access, so I can write ridiculous sed and awk scripts to produce lists of which files have been downloaded, like this. I was surprised to see how few recordings were actually downloaded.
Added 15 new recordings:
- anteater by JoustGod
- galaxian by Mark Lyons
- mspacman by Neil Chapman
- nrallyx by Neil Chapman
- mario by Nonney
- ladybug by Rick Fothergill
- rallyx by Rick Fothergill
- mooncrsb by TAB
- pootan by TAB
- pooyan by TAB
- scramble by TAB
- digdug2 by The Galaga King
- missile by Amerikan
- mooncrst by Amerikan
- moonqsr by Amerikan
Added Clu's recording of Blue Print which beats the score I uploaded yesterday.
Made a message board for your pleasure. Please try it out!
Made recordings of Moon Quasar, Moon Cresta (Nichibutsu), Missile Command, Galaxian, Cosmic Monsters, Congo Bongo, Blue Print and both versions of Jump Bug.
Only received one replay file today - a recording of 005 by Zelpheri. Expect quite a few more from him in the next few days - I have a suspicion that he's going to go from A-Z through all the games... :o)
Added 6 new recordings:
- Dith playing Mr. Do.
- Maxwel playing Hyper Spurts.
- Mark Longridge playing Dig Dug.
- Mark Longridge playing Wizard of Wor.
- Nick Moutzouris playing Defender.
- Nonney playing Mario Brothers.
Updated the Kiwi page.
Added 8 new recordings: BeeJay playing Exed Exes, Clu and Tyger playing Two Tigers, Dean Ryan playing Mr. Do, JoustGod playing Carnival and Crazy Climber, Rodimus Prime's friend Morrigu playing Disks of Tron and Steve Krogman showing 3 tricks on Donkey Kong.
Really added the 2 new replays that I thought I'd added last Wednesday - Capcom Bowling from Clu and a score of 10 million (!) on Xevious from Seno.
Updated the New Zealand Story page some more. It's looking pretty good now (if you're colour blind).
Woo - almost a whole week without an update! And only 8 new recordings to add? What's going on here, people? Keep 'em coming!
Moved the Tower of Druaga recording - I was calling it 'druaga' instead of 'todruaga' before.
Added 2 new replays - Capcom Bowling from Clu and a score of 10 million (!) on Xevious from Seno.
Uploaded 7 new recordings: Time Pilot 84, Bombjack, Mr Do, Burger Time, Tower of Druaga, Bobble Bobble (phear it!) and Galaga (By a whole list of people).
Added a request asking how people score so highly on Nibbler. How do you eat yours?
Updated the Kiwi-Z page with the latest developments. It's going pretty slowly!
Received a whole lot of new recordings in the mail over the weekend, as follows:
- Tony "ACL" Driessen playing Time Pilot 84.
- Aquatarkus playing Mat Mania.
- BeeJay playing Bomb Jack, Exerion and Vulgus.
- Dith playing Mr. Do and Mr. Do's Wild Ride. The Mr. Do recordings are demonstrations rather than score attempts.
- JoustGod playing Anteater and Reactor.
- Kyle Norman playing Mario Bros. and Super Basketball.
- Nonney playing Frenzy, Traverse USA and Zaxxon.
- Seno playing Dig Dug showing Rodimus Prime (where are you, Rodimus? Why no contributions recently?) how to kill the dragon twice at the same time.
About the voting - the 'only keep the best score' idea beat the 'keep them all' idea. However - I forgot to mention the 'keep the top 3 scores but only allow one from each person for each game' idea, which clearly would have won if I'd allowed it as an option, so that's what I'll do. Isn't democracy lovely?
Made a page for my new driver for The New Zealand Story. Click here to see it.
Started work on a The New Zealand Story driver for MAME. If anyone can help with it in any way please get in touch. I need board schematics, dip switch information, sprite information, RAM/ROM banking details, etc, etc. I'll make a page on this site for it once there's anything to put there.
Received a suggestion from Tony "ACL" Driessen saying:
To encourage more competition, erase all the high scores except the highest ones for each game. If a clip shows a good strategy etc. then put it in another catagory, but keep the high scores for the best of the best. Plus it will cut down on bandwidth.
So I thought I'd ask your opinion on this. Let's have a vote... Click here to vote to only store the best score for each game or click here to keep it as it is. You could click on both, but it wouldn't be very useful!
- New recording of Green Beret from GBE.
- New recordings of Berzerk and Mario from Nonney.
- New recording of Xevious from Seno.
- New recordings of Donkey Kong Junior from Talsit, answering a request.
Added yet another Silkworm (Jeep) recording from Krool.
Joined the classic arcade game web ring in a futile attempt to get more hits. :o)
Added some screen shots of Major Havoc from QwiqShot (on the 'Stuff' page).
Added links between the 3 high score pages for ease of navigation for people who aren't using frames.
Added a replay file from Mikko Hermanni Hyppönen showing all the secrets before the first mother ship on Xevious (Namco copyright).
Added a couple of recordings of Bomb Jack from BeeJay - one is a new high score (over 2 million) and one shows him being 'Lucy' - whatever works for you, Beej... :o)
Added an improved score on Timber (one player) from Clu.
Added two easter eggs from Mikko Hermanni Hyppönen - one for Star Gate and one for Sinistar.
Added a non-cheated game of Galaga from Rodimus Prime.
Added another game of Centipede by myself. I just beat my previous best score, but this one gets into a lot more scary situations!
Received two replay files for Timber from Clu. One shows him playing on his own and the other shows a 2 player game with his friend Tyger.
Added another Silkworm (Jeep) recording from Krool. Can anyone confirm that the timer is supposed to be reset to zero when you die? Apparently the bonus you get at the end of each level is based on the current value of the timer, and in MAME 0.30 the timer just keeps going up and up!
Added my recordings of Splat and Fire Trap. The Splat one is pretty awful, but in Fire Trap I manage to finish the first building.
Added my recording of Galaxian Part X.
Split off another new page for the high scores, since it was taking too long to load.
