| K6 - Stage 5 - Around 11 minutes or so to the start of Stage 5 I think - About this INP: Here's my fifteenth or so complete game ever on this ROM, which is not really Makai-Mura. This is some sort of weird combination of bad controls, semi-patterned play, and poor difficulty ramping. Anyway, I handily beat the 4th stage dragon boss by running away from him. I lost all but one of my extra lives which I carried onto stage 5, where the game ended. My 'crappy playerness' explains my poor showing on the final screen - I hadn't practiced the 5th stage with 1000 save states (MAME) yet, much less played the game extensively in the last four years like some of the other K6 players that got lucky with the game selection. I'll trounce my mario score later, and then shore up my timeplt score a bit. Stay tuned... Game stats: Estimated total times played (this ROMset): arcade: 2; MAME: 15 (complete games), 35 (hitting escape); using savestates: 100,000+. About the game in general: Ghosts'n Goblins is in a solid last-place, as far as its rank among my all-time knockout faves. How they could take 1985 hardware and come up with a game that controls so badly, is so buggy, and a leechfest to boot, well, let's just say I salute them (with my middle finger!). Marginal (for its time) graphics, sounds, and gameplay (especially), this one is pretty much the game I'm stuck playing this week, even if they (perhaps) ramp up the difficulty about twice as fast as it should. Still, I like short games, and any more than 15 minutes is too tough on this title, making it another one of my 'quickie' games... |
